RICHMOND – Virginia’s Department of Historic Resources (DHR) has released a second batch of survey and planning projects funded though the National Park Service’s (NPS) Emergency Supplemental Historic Preservation Fund (ESHPF), a disaster assistance program stemming from Hurricane’s Michael and Florence in 2018. The projects were selected on a competitive basis based and—in addition to fully funding the projects—DHR will also provide necessary coordination and management of the grants. These projects will be released in batches and this second round will fund projects in Westmoreland and Nelson counties, the Town of Crewe (Nottoway Co.), the City of Martinsville, the Pamunkey Indian Reservation, and projects spanning multiple localities. DHR anticipates the projects will result in new and/or updated information for over 500 historic and cultural resources in the Commonwealth.
