The Eastville Mercantile building is a traditional 19th-century store for the Chesapeake area, and is located in the heart of Northampton County’s Eastville Historic District. Built circa 1850, the two-story frame building consists of a large rectangular sales room and heated rear counting room on the first floor and a storage room and heated rear apartment on the second. Typical of this vernacular form, the Eastville Mercantile building has evolved over time to adapt itself to the varying needs of the community but has retained its historic fabric and rich architectural details.
