Located in the City of Virginia Beach, the former Crest Kitchenette Motel (now the Cutty Sark Motel Efficiencies) is a Modernist-style building in the city’s Oceanfront area. The motel was designed by William Burton Alderman and constructed by the original owner, William T. Winner, a contractor by trade. The Crest Kitchenette Motel was built at a time of explosive growth and dramatic changes along the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Every unit consists of a large room with an original 1963 kitchenette along one wall and an attached full bathroom. The Crest Kitchenette Motel has been listed in the registers under the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Resort Motels and Hotels MPD.
Many properties listed in the registers are private dwellings and are not open to the public, however many are visible from the public right-of-way. Please be respectful of owner privacy.
