The Civil War Properties in Prince William County Multiple Property Documentation (MPD) Form facilitates the nomination to the registers of resources in the county associated with the Civil War. Based on the Historical Context, the following associative property types have been identified for Prince William County: 1) the Battles of First and Second Manassas, 2) the Potomac River Blockade, 3) the Battle of Bristoe, and 4) Mosby’s Confederacy and Union Occupation. Individually, each of these property types represents a series of related Civil War activities or events in Prince William County that were important to the overall course of the Civil War. In addition, each property type generally corresponds to a specific time period or phase of the Civil War and a definable geographical region of the county. Taken together as a whole, these property types illustrate the Civil War history of the county.
