The Ridgely Quartzite comes from the Ridgely Sandstone Member of the Oriskany Formation. The sample was collected from Flintstone, Allegany County, Maryland.
Description
Ridgely is a sedimentary orthoquartzite ranging in color from white, tan, light to medium gray, and pink. The quartzite exhibits a homogenous, fine-grained, sugary texture with few bedding planes or internal flaws.
